Tired of the same-old routines when it comes to love making? Wish there was a way to spice up your sex life? It may be time to take a virtual world tour to find out what's sizzling hot and sexy in the far-flung corners of the globe.
The Netherlands
Women here are much more comfortable than Americans with body image that they're totally fine with initiating sex when they want it. It's much easier for them to talk about sex with a partner than it is for most American women, who tend to avoid discussing the subject. "Women in the Netherlands just appear to enjoy sex more," says Debra Laino, DHS, M.Ed., MS. "And they are much more willing to experiment with positions. Also, it's okay for women to pick up men here!"
France
Men and women here let their own body aromas shine through and aren't worried if they smell, well, earthy. "In the United States we are known for our ridiculous overcleanliness," Laino says. "In France, they just shower every couple of days and their natural pheromones come out and it's more sexy. You get more of the smell of the person."
Australia
Aussies aren't hung up the way Americans are about only having sex in the bedroom. The Aussies like to have sex in other places, like in the car. And it's not considered tacky in the least to take sex out of the bedroom.
Greece
Topless beaches here--and in other European countries, too--are much more accepted here. Though you could get fined for indecent exposure in the U.S. if you paraded around nude, it's not a problem at many European beaches.
Italy
Food and wine are perceived almost as kind of a prelude to sex. In fact, indulging in delicious morsels together, and possibly feeding each other, is almost like a form of foreplay. "A seduction strategy in Italy is to be in a very relaxed place and flirting over food," Laino says.
India
In this country, sex is more about the journey than the destination, Laino says. In other words, Indians like to take their time with longer foreplay. They prefer to slow down, relish the experience and not be so concerned about orgasm, she says. "Americans are kind of trained to think they have to have an orgasm for sex to be good. But that's not true in India."
Japan
Feng shui is important not just here but in other Asian countries, says Judy Kuriansky, Ph.D. To ensure a happy sex life and a positive relationship, bedroom furniture must be placed in a certain way. The bed should be in a certain position, and there should be two lamps in a room, never one. "If there's a picture of birds, there will be two birds, not one," Kuriansky adds. "And of course, the window in the bedroom should be facing in a certain direction."
