Addiction and Overdose Fuel Opioid Crisis
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the number of overdose deaths from opioid pain medication has quadrupled over the past 15 years. Some common medications involved in the overdoses include oxycodone, hydrocodone and morphine. Mayo Clinic pain medication expert Dr. Mike Hooten says there is an opioid crisis in the U.S. In this Mayo Clinic Minute, reporter Vivien Williams discusses the opioid crisis with Dr. Hooten.
